Trump Deploys Troops Amid Rising Anti-ICE Protests in US Cities

Since Saturday, the Los Angeles Police Department has conducted almost 400 arrests and detainments relating to immigration protesting. Police have made huge numbers of arrests mostly due to refusing to disperse in contempt of repeated requests by law enforcers. A few more serious charges have been added such as assault on police officers and one of having a Molotov cocktail and a gun.

Hundreds of people are protesting in the streets of LA asking ICE, the National Guard and Marines to get out of the city. The atmosphere was celebratory and jubilant, as the protesters stopped in front of the City Hall to take a Mexican line dance, accompanied by trumpet players, drummers and heavy truck speakers.

A curfew in part of downtown Los Angeles will start its second night at 8 p.m. PDT. Hundreds of protestors gather outside San Antonio City Hall. Local authorities estimated the number of persons at the anti-ICE protest Wednesday evening to be over 400. The demonstration was mostly non-violent, with most playing music and others distributing water. Side roads were blocked and police observed hundreds of feet away. The Trump administration dismisses lawsuit by Newsom as a ’crass political stunt’.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s sued the Trump administration in an effort to stop the military helping immigration agents in Los Angeles. The administration’s official response on Wednesday says that President Donald Trump is “exercising his lawful statutory and constitutional power to ensure that federal personnel and facilities are protected.”

Trump has mobilized over 4,000 members of the National Guard as well as 700 Marines to suppress immigration enforcement protest. The case cites that the sovereignty of the state was trodden upon by the action to deploy troops and seeks a restraining order.

In the response of Trump administration, it termed this as unprecedented wherein it said: It would be constitutionally dangerous. A hearing has been scheduled by a judge on Thursday. A day after dozens of demonstrators were arrested, those who condemn the existence of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency staged a comeback to lower Manhattan on Wednesday evening.

Once again, groups of people chanting and carrying anti-ICE signs amassed around the Foley Square area. Over 80 individuals were arrested by police in demonstrations that took place on Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
