Microsoft is now fifty years old. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, CEO Satya Nadella and former CEOs Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer sat down for a conversation moderated by an unexpected host: Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant. In an X post, Nadella shared a video of three Microsoft CEOs being interviewed by Copilot to commemorate the company's 50th anniversary.
The conversation begins with Satya Nadella playfully prompting Copilot to "wrap it up by asking or maybe roast giving us each an AI roast?"
Copilot responded, "Alright, Satya. Let's spice things up."
Turning to Steve Ballmer first, the AI joked, "We'll start with you. Your enthusiasm is legendary, but have you ever worried that it will short-circuit the AI? I mean, even robots require a coffee break after your motivational talks."
Ballmer replied, "Come on, dude. If you can't handle me, you can't handle a sizable chunk of the world's population. "We are counting on you."
Satya Nadella discusses when AI can 'run the show': "The day AI can play like the best cricket player."
In the two-minute video, Coploti poses the question: "Satya, AI seems to be your best buddy, but ever worry that your deep passion for AI could one day have it running the show, leaving you to just enjoy the ride?"
The AI assistant responds, "Touche' Satya, let's see if it can score a century in cricket, and then we'll talk." This has been a blast, gentlemen. Here's to 50 more years of innovation and adventure. Cheers!"
Turning to Bill Gates, Copilot wonders if AI is intimidated by his intense thinking face. Gates replied: "I hope so. I mean, that's all I have left: these AIs are becoming increasingly intelligent. It's just my gaze and willingness to criticize that sets me apart."
The AI assistant said, "And it's a formidable gaze indeed, Bill." Steve replied: "Copilot, would you ever be willing to criticise him?"
"Absolutely. "Criticism is where growth occurs," the AI joked. .
Satya Nadella's thank-you message for former Microsoft CEOs
In a separate X post, Nadella said: "I'm eternally grateful to Bill and Steve and to Paul for what you've meant to me personally and the vision you had to build this extraordinary company of ours that I've had the privilege to be a part of."
"Thank you for your leadership, passion, and for creating the Microsoft we know today. "A company that has truly transformed the world."
