Putin to Visit India on December 4 to 5 for Key Bilateral Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin is slated to travel to India from December 4–5, 2025 on a state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The visit, which marks Putin’s first trip to India since December 2021, will coincide with the 23rd annual summit between India and Russia. During his stay in New Delhi, Putin will meet with Prime Minister Modi and is also expected to be formally received by President Droupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in his honour.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Russian Kremlin, the agenda for the visit is broad: the two sides will review the progress of their “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership”, and map out a path forward to deepen cooperation across political, economic, scientific, technological, cultural, and humanitarian fields.

Amid the global turbulence caused by the war in Ukraine and shifting energy and trade alliances, the trip is seen as especially significant. India and Russia are also expected to engage in discussions covering defence, energy, nuclear, and trade cooperation, as well as the logistics and financial mechanisms for deeper bilateral engagement.
Both governments have indicated that during the visit a number of inter-governmental and commercial agreements are likely to be signed, though details have not yet been disclosed.
