Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has appointed a new head of the country’s National Nutrition Agency, marking a major leadership shake-up in one of his administration’s flagship welfare programmes following allegations of corruption and governance failures.

The appointment comes days after the dismissal and arrest of the agency’s former chief in connection with an expanding Indonesia corruption scandal 2026 tied to Indonesia’s ambitious free meals programme.

Prabowo has named Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, previously deputy head of the agency, to lead the Indonesia National Nutrition Agency and oversee reforms aimed at restoring confidence in the programme.
