France FM Heads to Israel in Fresh Push for Mideast Calm

France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot is set to visit Israel on Friday in a renewed diplomatic effort to ease rising Middle East tensions.

The trip, announced by the French foreign ministry, comes at a time when the region is witnessing heightened instability and growing concerns over a wider conflict.

Barrot’s visit follows his stop in Lebanon a day earlier, where he met Lebanese leaders to discuss ways to reduce hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border.

His quick back-to-back engagements underline France’s active role in trying to bring down tensions and encourage dialogue between the involved parties.
