Capital Group Named Guillermo Veiga as CIO to Lead Technology Growth
By Global Leaders Insights Team | Aug 27, 2026
Capital Group has appointed Guillermo Veiga as its new Chief Information Officer, bringing in an experienced technology and operations executive from Standard Chartered Bank.
Veiga will join the investment management company in November and move from Singapore to California. He will take over from Marta Zarraga, who plans to retire at the end of 2026.
The appointment comes at a time when technology, data and artificial intelligence are becoming more important to financial companies. Asset managers are using these tools to improve operations, support employees and provide better services to clients. Capital Group, which manages about $3.6 trillion in assets, said Veiga’s experience will support its growth and technology strategy.

Veiga Brings Experience Across Banking and Technology
Veiga currently works as Group Chief Information and Operations Officer at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore. He oversees the bank’s technology and operations functions and has held senior leadership positions across Europe and Asia.
Before joining Standard Chartered, Veiga held roles at Amazon Web Services, Cisco and Banco Santander. His experience covers financial technology, banking and business transformation, including managing large and complex organisations.
Rob Klausner, Chief Operating Officer at Capital Group, said AI and data are becoming increasingly important to the company. He said Veiga’s experience would help Capital Group continue its long-term strategy while supporting clients and expanding its operations.
Veiga said Capital Group’s focus on its people, culture and clients was one of the reasons he was interested in joining the company. He also highlighted the opportunity to work with the firm during a period of international growth and rapid changes in artificial intelligence in finance.
Technology and AI Take on a Bigger Role
Veiga’s appointment highlights the growing role of AI in asset management. Companies are increasingly using AI, data analytics and automation in areas such as investment research, customer service and internal processes.
For Capital Group, the leadership change comes as the company continues to expand its global operations. The firm has more than 9,000 employees across 34 offices and manages around $3.6 trillion in assets for individual and institutional clients.
The company is also preparing to approach its 100th anniversary in 2031. While its investment approach remains focused on long-term results, technology is becoming an important part of how the business operates and serves clients.
