Yogeshwar Sangwan Named India's Ambassador to Laos

The Government of India has appointed Yogeshwar Sangwan, a senior member of the Indian Foreign Service, as the next ambassador from India to Lao People's Democratic Republic. Sangwan is a batch of 1994 and is presently serving as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Paraguay. As the MEA stated in the press release announcing his appointment, "Shri Yogeshwar Sangwan, presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Paraguay, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Lao People's Democratic Republic," and is to take up his new job as soon as possible in the capital Vientiane.

Sangwan has paved a very bright path in the field of diplomacy and has well-featured experiences with bilateral relations with their concerned countries related to India. Under this reigning period, India's target regarding movement in terms of its diplomatic presence in South America would achieve more momentum.

This new appointment underscores the importance to India to further enhance the bilateral strategic and economic linkages with Laos, one of India's key southeast Asian counterparts. As India's spread in the region continues to increase, opportunities for cooperation between the two will for sure become richer, especially in areas such as trade, investment, and cultural contact- this is the area that Sangwan is expected to lead. He will soon take over the charge.
