Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) to stay adaptable while protecting the progress the country has made, saying China must be prepared to deal with a changing domestic and global environment.

Addressing celebrations marking the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing, Xi said the party should remain united, strengthen governance, and continue serving the country's long-term development goals.

He stressed that adapting to new challenges while preserving stability will be essential as China moves into its next phase of growth.

Adapting to a Changing Environment

In his speech at the Great Hall of the People, Xi Jinping said China is entering a period where opportunities and challenges exist side by side. While he did not point to specific issues, the country continues to face economic growth challenges, demographic changes, global trade uncertainty, and shifting geopolitical tensions.

Xi said the Communist Party must continue improving its ability to govern while responding to these changing conditions. He called on party officials to work more efficiently, strengthen coordination across government institutions, and focus on delivering long-term stability and development.

He also renewed his commitment to the country's anti-corruption campaign, describing strict party discipline as a key part of effective governance. Since taking office, Xi has made anti-corruption efforts a central part of his leadership, leading to investigations involving thousands of officials, including senior military and government figures.

According to Xi, maintaining public trust requires party members to uphold high standards of integrity and remain focused on serving the people. He said a disciplined and united party would be better equipped to guide China through future challenges.

Taiwan Remains Central to Beijing's Agenda

Xi also reaffirmed Beijing's position on Taiwan, saying the Communist Party would continue working toward what it calls national reunification. He said safeguarding China's sovereignty and territorial integrity remains a core national priority.

Taiwan's government said Xi's remarks reflected China's long-standing position and once again called for dialogue without preconditions. The comments come as military activity around the Taiwan Strait and tensions in the region continue to draw international attention.

Founded in 1921, the Communist Party of China has grown into the world's largest political party, with more than 100 million members. Xi said the party's continued success will depend on its ability to embrace reform, improve governance, and respond effectively to economic, political, and technological changes.
