Linda Yaccarino has stepped down as CEO of X (formerly Twitter) after two years with the company. Yaccarino was appointed in May 2023, nearly a year after Elon Musk acquired Twitter and rebranded it, to oversee business operations while Musk focused on product and technology. However, it was a turbulent time for the company because it was just beginning to transition to what Musk dubbed the "Everything App."

In her note of resignation, Yaccarino wrote: "I'm immensely grateful to [Elon Musk] for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App." She described the company's turnaround as "nothing short of remarkable," though critics may question the metrics behind that claim.

Currently, the company has not named a successor. During her time at X, the microblogging platform has experienced public controversies, declining platform moderation, and ongoing disagreements with media regulators and advertisers.

This move comes shortly after Grok and xAI faced criticism for antisemitic posts. Grok's most recent iteration, marketed as more "politically incorrect," sparked widespread outrage after it began producing antisemitic content and praise for Adolf Hitler.

Elon Musk, on the other hand, has yet to issue a detailed statement on Yaccarino's departure, only responding with a brief "Thank you for your contributions" to her post.
