Biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who briefly aided President Trump in government reorganization, announced his candidacy for governor of Ohio on Monday.

On Monday, Ramaswamy had an official campaign launch rally in his hometown Cincinnati. He told hundreds of supporters at an industrial facility of an aerospace company that his candidacy would be a continuation of Mr. Trump’s work in Washington.

“I am honored to officially announce my candidacy to serve as the next Governor of Ohio, President Trump is reviving our conviction in America. We require a leader here at home, who will revive our conviction in Ohio," he said. Ramaswamy dropped out of the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination to endorse Donald Trump.

Former Republican Attorney General and State Auditor Dave Yost is the Republican competitor. He has already said that he plans to run in the elections planned for November 2026. Also, Democrat Amy Acton, Ohio's past health director, is also running.

Also, President Trump strongly supported Ramaswamy's candidacy. “Vivek Ramaswamy is running for Governor of the Great State of Ohio. I know him well, competed against him, and he is something special, he’s young, strong, and smart. Vivek is also a very good person, who truly loves our Country. He will be a great Governor of Ohio, will never let you down, and has my complete and total endorsement!" Trump said.

Ramaswamy promised that he would help to take Ohio to the prime state to raise a family, educate children internationally, and grow business here.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy. "Good luck, you have my full endorsement!" Musk responded to Ramaswamy in a post on X.

Ramaswamy's campaign was guided by the current top political advisers of Vice-President JD Vance, who used to represent Ohio in the US Senate.
