UnitedHealthcare has Announced Tim Noel as the New CEO

After Brian Thompson was shot and killed in a targeted attack in midtown Manhattan, UnitedHealthcare announced a new CEO on Thursday.

In an emailed statement, UnitedHealthcare announced that Tim Noel, a veteran of the company, has been appointed as its new CEO.

According to the company's website, Noel has been in charge of the Medicare and retirement division. He was involved in financial restructuring at Northwest Airlines during its bankruptcy proceedings before joining UnitedHealthcare in 2007.

Thompson had been with UnitedHealthcare since 2004 and was placed as its CEO in 2021. In addition to other charges of weapon and forgery in Thompson's murder, Luigi Mangione, 26, is charged with 11 counts in New York, including two counts of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree murder, according tobased on an indictment. Mangione entered a not guilty plea to charges of terror and state murder.

The shooting raised new public concerns about insurance companies' and the US healthcare system's practices.

Many businesses took action to safeguard their top executives following the shooting. Some boosted armed security details for important leaders and removed photos of top executives from their websites.

In an email sent Thursday, a spokesperson stated that Noel "brings unparalleled experience to this role with a proven track record and strong commitment to improving how health care works for consumers, physicians, employers, governments, and our other partners."
