President Sheikh Mohamed has declared 2025 as the Year of Community in the UAE, urging "all those who call the UAE home" to play a part in enhancing the community. The national initiative will take place under the slogan 'Hand in Hand'.

"Hand in hand we will work to strengthen social bonds, foster shared responsibility, and unlock potential for inclusive and sustainable growth," he said in a social media post.
Sheikh Mohamed further stated that a combination of ambitious ideas and bold actions will ensure the nation continues to be an "inspiring model of progress and prosperity."

The Ruler of Dubai praised the declaration of the Year of Community, emphasizing its focus on future priorities such as "strengthening social bonds and promoting unity within society."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that a strong community is "backbone of a brighter tomorrow for generations to come" and thereby termed it as an area of importance, while wishing that the people learn to respect and treat with care role players in the respective environments called communities.

A broader objective is to foster innovative practices in traditional areas such as entrepreneurship and emerging fields, including artificial intelligence, in line with other national priorities of the UAE. Various programs, projects, and community-based events are scheduled to be organized which will intend to increase social cohesion, preserve cultural heritages, inculcate and safeguard the Emirati values, strengthen intergenerational bonds, and foster inclusive spaces through 2025.

The program will be spearheaded by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, followed by Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects.

Last year, on the UAE National Environment Day, the President declared 2024 as the Year of Sustainability, building onto 2023. Sheikh Mohamed had earlier stated that he felt "now" is the time to start a renewed commitment to environmental conservation as a "collective responsibility that members of society should carry on their shoulders".
