Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, has announced the appointment of Sudeep Kunnumal as chief human resources officer (CHRO), effective March 14.

At the end of his term, Milind Lakkad is retiring, and Kunnumal takes over.

Lakkad will depart in September, so there will be a six-month transition period. Lakkad had been extended for two years.

Kunnumal currently oversees the human resources division of the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) company, which generates the majority of the company's revenue.

Kunnumal joined TCS in 2000 and takes over at a time when the IT sector is hiring slowly due to low demand and weak macroeconomic conditions.

According to TCS, one of his main goals in every position has been to create attractive value propositions that will draw and keep top talent, establish the business as an employer of choice, and close the gap between academia and business.

He has worked with business leaders, as a trusted partner and advisor throughout his career, coordinating HR strategies with organizational objectives to foster innovation, growth, and transformation.

"His success in navigating complex, multicultural environments and delivering impactful HR solutions has been largely attributed to his ability to embrace change, leverage technology, lead high-performing teams, and inspire them," the company stated.
