During President Joseph Aoun’s visit next month, Saudi Arabia is set to sign over 20 cooperation agreements with Lebanon, further enhancing bilateral ties. Lebanon's government has completed its preparation for signing these agreements, empowering Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri to announce that 22 agreements are ready for signing. He added that Saudi support is paramount in bringing international humanitarian assistance, but donor countries now expect reforms alongside transparency.

Economic Recovery and Funding Challenges

Lebanon needs $11 billion for its recovery, whereas $3-5 billion is needed for infrastructure through government funding, according to the World Bank. At the same time, $6-8 billion of private investment is required for the housing and tourism sectors.

Mitri added that it is imperative to prove reforms and transparency to attract international support when he said: "We must earn the trust of Arab nations and the global community." France is suggesting to organize a support conference for Lebanon, and Mitri disclosed that the French have proposed a preparatory meeting ahead of the conference, or possibly for both processes to be combined.

The initiatives are meant to raise funds in parallel with the endorsees' strategies to support Lebanon's recovery plans. As to the return of refugees, Mitri stated that the Syrian-Lebanese dialogue will focus on repatriation, which is supported for the most part by the Lebanese. The main issue expected to be subject for dialogue is the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland," confirming the support of the government towards this initiative.
