Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India-Mauritius ties, saying that the two countries' relationship knows no bounds and that they will work together for the people of both countries as well as the region's peace and security.

At a banquet dinner hosted by Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, PM Modi stated, "If any nation in the world has complete rights over India, it is Mauritius. Our relationships have no boundaries. There is no limit to our hopes and dreams for our relationships. We will keep collaborating for the benefit of our people and the peace and security of the area in the future."

PM Modi recalled proposing the SAGAR vision during his last trip to Mauritius. He described Mauritius as India's "close maritime neighbour" and a "important partner" in the Indian Ocean region.

"Mauritius is our close maritime neighbour and a key partner in the Indian Ocean. During my last visit to Mauritius, I proposed the vision SAGAR. It focuses on regional development, security, and prosperity. I believe that the Global South's countries must unite to raise their voices. During our G20 presidency, we prioritized the Global South and invited Mauritius as a special guest," he stated.

In addition to thanking the Mauritius government for the cordial welcome, Prime Minister Modi said the visit is not only a political one but also a chance to meet with family.

"I am incredibly appreciative of the warm welcome and hospitality I received in Mauritius from the Prime Minister, the Government, and the people of Mauritius.Any Indian Prime Minister's trip to Mauritius is always a memorable one. Meeting one's family is an additional benefit of the trip, in addition to the political one. Being the main guest on Mauritius' National Day once more is a blessing for me. I want to take this opportunity to send my warmest regards to each and every one of you on behalf of 140 crore Indians," he said.

Prime Minister Modi went on to say that the partnership between India and Mauritius is based on trust, shared values, and a vision for a bright future rather than just historical ties. He praised Mauritius' prime minister, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, for his attempts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

"In addition to historical ties, the partnership between Mauritius and India is based on trust, shared values, and a shared vision for the future. Our relationship has always been led by you (Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam), and as a result of your leadership, our partnership is growing in every way," he said.

PM Modi described India as a "trust and reliable partner" of Mauritius, saying, "India takes immense pride in being a trusted and reliable partner of Mauritius, playing an integral role in its developmental journey."

"We are working together on major infrastructure projects that will have an impact on Mauritius's development. Collaboration between India and Mauritius in skill development and human resource development is evident in both the public and private sectors. We have always stood by each other as a family during difficult times, whether it was a natural disaster or COVID-19," he added.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Mauritius as the Chief Guest for the country's National Day celebrations.

On Tuesday, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the highest award, 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean'.
