For the first time in history North Korea publicly stated that its military forces aid Russia in its battle against Ukraine. State news agency KCNA documented that after receiving instructions from leader Kim Jong Un North Korean military forces helped Russian troops achieve total victory in the Kursk border area. The NATO report indicated that between 1,000 soldiers died among the 11,000 North Korean troops deployed in a three-month interval. Gerasimov indicated Moscow had successfully established complete authority in Kursk's western section even though Ukraine rejects his claim. The United States has declared North Korea must participate in holding responsibility for continuing the conflict. The deployment took place according to the mutual defense treaty that linked Pyongyang and Moscow.

"They who fought for justice are all heroes and representatives of the honour of the motherland," Kim said according to KCNA.

Kursk witnessed a celebration between North Korea and Russia which reinforced their "alliance and brotherhood" through the "friendship proven by blood" while they declared to strengthen their relationship. The spokesman from KCNA declared the ongoing North Korean support for Russia while raising questions about the return of their deployed forces to their homeland. The experts question whether the Storm Corps meets current warfare requirements. Earlier Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi who serves as Ukraine's top military commander stated that North Korean troops constitute a serious challenge to Ukrainian fighters along the front lines.
