MUFG Names McAllister Kirschner CEO as John Sergides Steps Down
By Global Leaders Insights Team | Oct 28, 2026
MUFG Investor Services has appointed McAllister “Mac” Kirschner as its new chief executive officer after John Sergides stepped down for health-related reasons.
The appointment brings an experienced company executive into the top role as the global financial services provider continues to expand its business and support investment managers worldwide.
Kirschner has been with MUFG Investor Services since 2016, when he joined as global head of relationship management.
He became chief operating officer in 2018 and has since overseen business and banking operations across public and private markets. His experience in these roles gives him a broad understanding of the company’s operations and the needs of its clients.

Kirschner Brings Experience in Fund Management Services
Before joining MUFG Investor Services, Kirschner worked as a managing director in BlackRock’s Global Fund Services business. He led teams responsible for fund administration, shareholder services and trade operations for BlackRock’s alternative investments business.
Earlier in his career, he led the investor relations team at Quellos Group, a private investment management firm whose private funds business was later acquired by BlackRock. His experience across these organisations has given him a strong background in investor relations, client management and investment operations.
His appointment as CEO marks the next step in a career that has covered several important areas of the business. Having worked closely with clients and managed operational teams, Kirschner brings experience in both customer relationships and the day-to-day running of the company.
Investment managers today face growing demands in areas such as regulatory compliance, investor reporting and fund administration. These requirements can become more complicated as firms expand into new markets and manage different types of investments. Kirschner’s experience across public and private markets could help MUFG Investor Services respond to these challenges.
Company Focuses on Global Growth and Client Services
MUFG Investor Services administers approximately $1.29 trillion in assets and operates across 16 locations worldwide. It provides services to public and private investment funds, particularly those involved in alternative investments.
Its offerings include fund administration services, banking, fund financing, custody, depositary services, foreign exchange solutions and regulatory support. These services help investment managers handle their daily operations, manage financial responsibilities and meet reporting requirements.
The company’s international presence allows it to work with investment managers across different markets. Its clients include firms operating in private equity, private credit and hedge funds, all of which require specialised support to manage their investments and meet regulatory obligations.
MUFG Investor Services is part of Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, which belongs to Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). The wider group has approximately $3 trillion in assets, giving the business access to an established international banking network.
Sergides’ departure marks a leadership change for the company as it continues to develop its services and strengthen its position in the global fund services market. He stepped down for health-related reasons, and no further details about his departure have been announced.
Kirschner’s appointment is expected to provide continuity, given his experience within the organisation and his understanding of its clients and operations. The company has not announced any changes to its organisational structure or business strategy following the leadership transition.
As CEO, Kirschner will lead the company’s efforts to strengthen its services and meet the changing needs of investment managers. His experience in relationship management and operations will be important as fund managers look for reliable partners to handle increasingly complex investment structures.
