Elon Musk plans to establish an office in the White House complex for his new initiative focused on reducing government spending under the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), as reported by The New York Times.

The office will be situated in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House, allowing Musk who owns companies with significant US government contracts to remain close to President-elect Donald Trump once he assumes office.

In the recent US general elections, the Twitter CEO supported Trump with donations totaling hundreds of millions of dollars to help him secure a historic majority. With this victory, Trump will assume office for a second term as the 47th president of the United States.

After forging a strong relationship with Trump during the election, Musk has been seen frequently with Trump, attending meetings and offering advice on key decisions.

The new initiative, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is being led by Musk and his partner, Vivek Ramaswamy, a US billionaire who ran for president before supporting Trump. It remains unclear whether Ramaswamy will also have office space in the White House complex.

According to a report by The New York Times, DOGE staff are currently operating from SpaceX's Washington, DC offices. Details about the project and its funding remain confidential, and it is unclear what role Musk will have in the White House or if he will receive any special access.

Additionally, Musk could be designated as a 'special government employee,' granting him greater flexibility regarding financial disclosures. However, the size of his team and his specific role remain undisclosed.
