Elon Musk Backs Grok AI Chatbot by X: 'Don’t Google it, Just Grok it'

Elon Musk, CEO of X and founder of xAI, expressed his support for his AI chatbot Grok in a post on X this Sunday (IST). Sharing the message, "Don’t Google it, Just Grok it," Musk responded with a straightforward "Yes," using his characteristic endorsement style without directly promoting the product.

This endorsement comes at a time when Grok is facing increasing competition from Google’s AI-powered services, especially in the areas of language models and search functionality.

Grok 3, the newest version of the chatbot from xAI, is being marketed as a direct rival to Google’s AI models, such as Gemini. Musk has consistently stated that Grok could "replace Google Search," emphasizing his goal to challenge Google’s lead in the search industry.

A post from an X-affiliated account made a bold assertion: "Grok 3 will replace Google Search. People are no longer turning to Google for searches; they’re using apps like Grok instead." Musk shared the post, further emphasizing his company's goal to compete with the search giant.

Despite these claims, there has been no public comment from OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google’s parent company Alphabet, or the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek. Interestingly, Altman had previously recognized DeepSeek's capabilities when it made waves, but has stayed silent on Grok.

Grok 3, which is said to have ten times the computational power of its predecessor, operates on xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, using over 100,000 Nvidia GPU hours for its training. While speaking at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Musk praised the chatbot's capabilities, remarking, “At times, I think Grok 3 is scarily smart.”

Following its release, Musk announced on X, “The @xAI Grok 3 release will improve rapidly every day this week. Please report any issues as a reply to this post.” In a rare exchange, Google CEO Sundar Pichai responded, saying, “Congrats on the progress! Look forward to trying it out.”

Grok 3 is being rolled out to Premium Plus subscribers on X, and Musk also introduced a new subscription plan called "Super Grok," which will provide access to advanced features and early updates via the Grok app and website, grok.com.

Encouraging users to stay up-to-date, Musk urged, “Make sure to update your X app to access all the new features, as we’ve just launched the latest update.” He also teased a voice interaction feature, sharing, “The goal is to make it so you can talk to it just like you would with a person. I believe it will be one of the best experiences with Grok 3, though it’s about a week away.”
