A special session is scheduled to begin on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution with the new Wayanad MP delivering her maiden speech in Lok Sabha during the debate on Friday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will likely initiate the debate as well.
The debate will be continued on Saturday and will be opened at 12 noon on Friday with the contribution of more than 12 BJP leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the discussion on the evening of December 14.
Key Leaders To Participate In Debate
People, leaders, and members from some parties of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, including HD Kumaraswamy, Srikant Shinde, Shambhavi Chaudhary, Rajkumar Sangwan, Jiten Ram Manjhi, Anupriya Patel, and Rajiv Ranjan Singh, are expected to speak on this occasion.
Sources are quoting that the BJP's associates will take up the Emergency and refute for an answer the "false narratives being churned" by the opposition.
Participating in the debate should be DMK's TR Balu and A Raja along with Trinamool Congress's MPs Kalyan Banerjee and Mohua Moitra.
Both BJP and Congress have served a 'three-line whip' to secure all its members in attendance.
"All BJP members in Lok Sabha are hereby informed that the 75th Anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India will be taken up in the Lok Sabha on Friday, the 13th of December and Saturday, the 14th of December 2024. Sources reveal that Amit Shah, the home minister, will initiate the discussion in Rajya Sabha on December 16. On Wednesday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stated that the Opposition wants the House to work and hold discussions on December 13-14 for their 75th anniversary of adopting a Constitution.
"I held a meeting with the Speaker. I told him that derogatory comments against me should be expunged. The Speaker said that he would look into it...Our aim is that the House must run and discussion should happen in the House. No matter what they say about me, we want that there should be a debate on 13th December," Rahul Gandhi told reporters.
