Bill Gates has publicly expressed his admiration and gratitude to Warren Buffett, the legendary investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, following Berkshire's annual shareholder meeting in Omaha, where the 94-year-old investor announced his resignation as CEO at the end of the year. The co-founder of Microsoft expressed his sincere "Congratulations" on social media, highlighting Buffett's life-changing impact.
Reflecting on the "incredible couple of days in Omaha," Gates highlighted the value he places on his time with Buffett in thread. "One of the greatest investors and philanthropists of all time," according to Gates, Buffett was also a cherished "mentor and friend."
"Those few days in Omaha were amazing. "My life changed the day we met," Gates said, "and every time I see Warren, I realize how fortunate I am to know him—not just as one of the greatest investors and philanthropists of all time, but as a mentor and friend."
"His generosity, humor, and honesty have taught me a lot. Congratulations, Warren," he said.
His legacy will inspire generations to come: Bill Gates
According to reports, Gates recently called Buffett "one of the greatest CEOs ever" and "hands-down the most successful investor of all time".
"He has created an extraordinary company in Berkshire Hathaway, and he has done so with wisdom, integrity, and a great sense of humor. However, Warren has not been satisfied with simply setting an example as a businessman. When he decided to donate his wealth to society, he also set a philanthropic example. His legacy will inspire future generations," Gates was quoted as saying.
Buffett and Gates have been friends for 30 years
Warren Buffett and Bill Gates formed a friendship in the early 1990s, which has now lasted 30 years. Both have spent decades working together on various philanthropic initiatives. Last May, Gates stated that he could have learned a valuable lesson about success from Buffet much sooner.
"It took me far too long to realize that you don't need to fill every minute of your day to be successful. In retrospect, it's a lesson I could have learned much sooner if I'd looked more closely at Warren Buffett's intentionally light calendar," Gates wrote on Meta's Threads app.
