P&G Announces Appointment of Shailesh Jejurikar as New CEO

- Effective Jan 1, 2026, P&G appoints long-serving COO Shailesh Jejurikar as CEO.
- Jon Moeller transitions to Executive Chairman, with Jejurikar continuing P&G's tradition of internal leadership succession.
Jon Moeller, CEO of Procter & Gamble, is stepping down in a surprise move after only four years with the company, and he will be succeeded by Shailesh Jejurikar, chief operating officer.
Moeller, who has been CEO since 2021, will become executive chairman and "provide advice and counsel to the CEO on company matters," P&G said in a statement, a day before it reports its quarterly results.
It did not specify the reason for the leadership transition.
Under Moeller's leadership, the company navigated a post-pandemic sales boom, rising expenses, and persistent inflation. During his four-year tenure, P&G's stock rose by about 13%.
As part of a larger two-year restructuring plan, the company announced in June that it would cut 7,000 jobs over the next two years and exit some product categories and brands in specific markets, including some potential divestitures.
The company, which manufactures Pampers diapers and Head & Shoulders shampoo, warned in April that product prices would rise due to increased input costs from the trade war at a time when consumer spending was weakening. Its stock is down about 6% this year.
Jejurikar's appointment, effective January 1, 2026, aligns with P&G's preference for naming internal candidates for top positions. Moeller had also worked his way up the ranks before becoming COO and then CEO of the company.
At the annual shareholder meeting in October 2025, the board has nominated Jejurikar to serve as a director.

Jejurikar has worked for several P&G businesses, including Health & Beauty Care and P&G Professional. He previously led P&G's Fabric & Home Care division, which includes brands such as Tide, Ariel, and Downy, before taking on his current role.
